Key Responsibilities:
• Adheres to the established OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
• Conducts various mammographic examinations utilizing independent judgment to ensure high-quality patient care, consistently demonstrating excellent judgment in film evaluation.
• Operates an array of radiographic and auxiliary equipment, including mammographic, ultrasound, and stereotactic breast biopsy machines, along with mobile radiographic and fluoroscopic equipment as necessary.
• Safeguards patients from unnecessary radiation exposure by employing lead shields and adhering to safety protocols.
• Selects appropriate film sizes, collimates, and positions equipment accurately to the patient's anatomy to generate clear, diagnostic images.
• Assists radiologists in executing and producing various fluoroscopic procedures by adjusting necessary radiographic technique factors, preparing and administering contrast media, and positioning patients for required exposures.
• Responsible for the upkeep of mammography equipment and components, ensuring emergency trays and supplies are replenished as needed, and maintaining an adequate inventory for mammographic screenings, diagnostics, and surgical procedures.
• Identifies abnormal anatomical structures and pathological conditions while assessing patients for suitable procedures.
• Maintains Quality Control/Quality Assurance in compliance with MQSA programs and ACR, FDA, and TDH standards and regulations, ensuring all documentation is accurately recorded and organized for immediate inspection if required.
• Demonstrates the ability to perform assigned patient care duties in a manner that meets the specific and developmental needs of the patient population served by the department.
• Appropriately modifies patient assessment, treatment, and care methods to address the unique physical, psychosocial, cultural, age-specific, and other developmental needs of each patient.
• Upholds the CORE VALUES of Christus Health.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education/Skills:
• Graduate from an accredited Radiology Technology program or an equivalent recognized institution is required.
Experience:
• 1 to 3 years of experience in Diagnostic Radiology is preferred.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in Mammography.
Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications:
• Must be registered with The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in both Radiography and Mammography.
• Current state licensure is required.
• Current BLS certification (American Heart Association) is required.
