Position Overview:

Job Title: Banking Management Trainee

Reports to: Assistant Vice President of Human Resources

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Salary Grade: NE15

Supervisory Responsibility: Yes

POSITION SUMMARY:

As a Banking Management Trainee, you will have the chance to delve into various internal divisions of Trustco Bank, acquiring a thorough understanding of their operations and responsibilities. Should a relevant position arise during your training, you may be considered for a role within that division. Otherwise, you will receive comprehensive training at Trustco University, aimed at facilitating a seamless transition into a Branch Management role.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Gaining insights into the bank's operations, management protocols, and procedures.
  • Observing seasoned employees to learn department-specific techniques and processes.
  • Participating in departmental functions to prepare for future transitions and provide constructive feedback.
  • Filling in for absent personnel when required.
  • Submitting written evaluations of departmental experiences.
  • Completing designated tasks within each department.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in a business-related discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communication capabilities.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
  • Able to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Word.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree in a business-related field.

WORK SCHEDULE:

This is a full-time role with standard office hours from Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. Some evening and weekend work may be necessary based on operational demands.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

Travel using a personal vehicle is required, necessitating a valid driver's license.

LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY:

Proficiency in the primary workplace language is essential. Bilingual abilities are advantageous. The ability to understand business information, company policies, and interact effectively with management and clients is crucial.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • This is primarily a sedentary position that requires the use of standard office equipment.
  • Effective communication through in-person and telephone interactions is necessary.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment resembles a typical office/retail setting with standard room temperatures and lighting.
