Job Overview

The Compliance and Financial Operations Manager plays a vital role within the business operations team of the Advancement division, reporting directly to the Director of Finance and Analysis. This division is integral to communication, marketing, engagement, and fundraising initiatives.

This role is responsible for overseeing the division's contracts and procurement processes while also evaluating and monitoring business activities across the Advancement Division and its affiliated organizations. The position necessitates effective interaction with employees at all levels, ensuring adherence to established protocols and confidentiality standards.

The ideal candidate will exhibit exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, capable of conveying complex compliance and financial information to diverse audiences. A strong understanding of contracting procedures, procurement methodologies, and financial regulatory frameworks is essential.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Manage and coordinate the entire contracts process for the division, ensuring alignment with state regulations and organizational guidelines.

• Maintain comprehensive records of all contracts within the Advancement Division, acting as the liaison and managing relationships with legal departments and procurement teams.

• Develop and maintain a detailed database, coordinating audit follow-ups for departmental compliance with institutional policies and financial standards.

• Supervise PCI-DSS compliance initiatives, ensuring all payment processing activities conform to the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards, thereby protecting sensitive financial data.

Required Qualifications


• A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.

• Proven experience in financial management, compliance, or auditing within a higher education institution or similarly complex organization.

• Demonstrated ability to assess processes and recommend improvements, including planning, execution, and reporting.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and SharePoint.

• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with meticulous attention to detail.

• Experience collaborating across various teams and projects.

Preferred Qualifications


• A Master's degree or relevant professional certification (e.g., CPA, CMA).

• Familiarity with higher education and government budgeting and procurement processes, including contracting for goods and services.

• Significant experience in evaluating internal control risks and providing recommendations for mitigation.

• Knowledge of PCI compliance and the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards.

• Experience in adhering to detailed compliance processes and established procedures.

• Proficiency in drafting, reviewing, and recommending policies and procedures related to contract management.

• Experience in preparing user documentation and conducting training sessions.
