Position Overview

The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for conducting thorough research, planning, and designing mechanical and electromechanical products and systems. This role involves directing and coordinating activities related to the fabrication, operation, application, installation, maintenance, and repair of structural, mechanical, and electromechanical systems.

Location

This position is situated at the Dredging Divisional Office.


Responsibilities
  • Conduct research and analyze data, specifications, and manuals to assess the feasibility of designs or applications.
  • Design products or systems, including instruments, controls, machines, and mechanical, thermal, and hydraulic systems.
  • Plan and oversee engineering personnel in the fabrication of test control apparatus and equipment, as well as the development of testing methods and procedures.
  • Direct and coordinate fabrication and installation activities to ensure compliance with engineering designs and company specifications.
  • Coordinate operation, maintenance, and repair activities to maximize the utilization of machines and equipment.
  • Design products and systems to ensure proper interfacing of machines, hardware, and software.
  • Evaluate field installations and recommend design modifications to rectify machine or system malfunctions.
  • Provide engineering services, including advice, information, and drawings to supervisors in maintenance and repair departments, as well as on-board personnel.
  • Conduct frequent equipment and job site visits and inspections.

Qualifications
  • 3-5 years of experience preferred, ideally in the Marine Services or Construction industry.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Technical understanding of construction and maintenance of marine vessels.
  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD.
  • Ability to read and comprehend technical manuals and drawings.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret common specific and technical journals.
  • Proficient in standard office software packages.
  • Willingness to work a 50-hour work week, with additional hours as needed.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as required.
  • Fluent use of the verbal and written English language is necessary.
