Job Summary: 

The QA Engineer- Mechanical will establish standards for the integration of project deliverables into a production environment with a focus on mechanical systems that include, but are not limited to, Servo Control Units, SSPBs, radomes, and extensive cabling. This individual will audit manufacturing and field installation processes to provide necessary controls and visibility.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Creates and maintains quality system by writing and updating quality assurance procedures
  • Establishes quality certifications and maintains required periodic audits to maintain certifications
  • Develops, implemenst, and maintains comprehensive quality assurance policies, procedures, and standards for a global organization
  • Assures companywide adherence to quality standards for internal teams and external vendors
  • Establishes quality and reliability standards by studying project requirements with all stakeholders, conferring, and negotiating with suppliers, SMEs, and devising testing methods and procedures
  • Implements in-process inspection standards by studying design and manufacturing methods and devising testing methods and procedures
  • Establishes rework standards
  • Enforces quality assurance policies and procedures through regular audits and corrective action reports
  • Ensures compliance with all project-related regulatory and government requirements
  • Prepares project quality reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information to drive quality and cost improvements
  • May assist functional management in the performance of special assignments and projects in support of strategic planning efforts
  • Analyzes trends for continuous performance improvement

Skills and Competencies:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to interact clearly and concisely with all departments and levels of management

Education, Experience, and Licenses/Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in quality assurance (or equivalent)
  • Working knowledge of quality system requirements with expert knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Standard
  • Knowledge of regulatory and safety requirements and legal standards
  • Experience with MS Word, Excel, Project Management and Analytics software
  • Experience with Jira or similar ticketing system
  • Experience with Python a plus

Physical Requirements:

  • Willingness and ability to travel as needed
  • Willingness and ability to work after regularly scheduled hours as needed
  • Ability to sit at a desk for prolonged periods working on a computer (4 to 8 hours)
  • Ability to operate the equipment used for the job
  • Ability to lift 15 pounds at times
