Job Overview:

The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for conducting thorough research, planning, and designing mechanical and electromechanical products and systems. This role involves directing and coordinating activities related to the fabrication, operation, application, installation, maintenance, and repair of structural, mechanical, and electromechanical products and systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze data, specifications, and manuals to assess the feasibility of designs or applications.
  • Create designs for products or systems, including instruments, controls, machines, and mechanical, thermal, and hydraulic systems.
  • Oversee engineering personnel in the fabrication of test control apparatus and equipment, as well as the development of testing methods and procedures.
  • Manage fabrication and installation activities to ensure compliance with engineering designs and company standards.
  • Coordinate operation, maintenance, and repair tasks to maximize the efficiency of machines and equipment.
  • Design systems to integrate machines, hardware, and software effectively.
  • Evaluate field installations and suggest design modifications to rectify any malfunctions.
  • Provide engineering support, including advice, information, and drawings to supervisors in maintenance and repair departments.
  • Conduct frequent visits and inspections of equipment and job sites.

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, preferably in the Marine Services or Construction sectors.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is required; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • Strong technical knowledge of marine vessel construction and maintenance.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD is essential.
  • Ability to interpret technical manuals and drawings accurately.
  • Skilled in analyzing and interpreting technical journals and specifications.
  • Competent in standard office software applications.
  • Willingness to work a 50-hour work week, with additional hours as necessary.
  • Must be willing and able to travel as required.
  • Proficiency in both verbal and written English is mandatory.

Certifications/Licenses:

  • A valid Driver's license is required.
  • A PE license is preferred.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to endure rough seas, vibrations, heat, harsh weather, confined spaces, and high noise levels.
  • Frequent physical activity, including pushing, pulling, bending, standing for extended periods, and climbing ladders with weight limits of 300 lbs.
  • Ability to lift or carry equipment, supplies, and parts weighing up to 50 lbs. without assistance.
