Role Overview
Join the innovative team at Via Logic as a remote Lead Cloud Security Engineer, where you will play a crucial role in supporting our federal government client. This position is designed for a U.S. citizen with extensive experience in designing, deploying, and managing secure, scalable cloud solutions. The successful candidate will be instrumental in enhancing our clients' infrastructure to be more efficient, secure, and aligned with their business goals. This role emphasizes the application of DevSecOps best practices and cloud security measures.

Your responsibilities will include collaborating with key stakeholders to lead secure cloud initiatives that meet client objectives and regulatory requirements. Your expertise will be vital in deploying and operationalizing capabilities for our clients.

To thrive in this role, candidates must exhibit a high degree of professionalism, meet public trust clearance standards, and have a proven history of successful collaboration in Agile project environments.

Key Requirements:

  • U.S. citizenship is essential, as this role involves work for a federal government client. Candidates must successfully complete a Background Investigation (BI) and credit check. A clean history is necessary to obtain a public trust security clearance.
  • U.S. citizenship is defined as being born in the U.S. or having obtained citizenship through naturalization, which will be verified by the government. Non-citizen nationals, lawful permanent residents (green card holders), refugees, or individuals on temporary visas are excluded.
  • Candidates must reside in the U.S. and perform work exclusively within the U.S.

Core Responsibilities:

  • CI/CD Pipeline Design: Architect and implement secure, automated CI/CD pipelines for cloud environments, ensuring integration of security protocols and compliance measures.
  • Cloud Infrastructure Oversight: Deploy, manage, and optimize cloud infrastructure utilizing infrastructure as code (IaC) tools like Terraform, Ansible, and Chef, with a focus on AWS.
  • Security and Compliance Assurance: Conduct comprehensive security evaluations, testing, and compliance checks to ensure all infrastructure meets or exceeds federal and industry standards.
  • Technical Solutions Development: Effectively translate business needs into technical solutions, working closely with stakeholders to ensure alignment with project goals.
  • Cloud-native Transition Leadership: Guide the shift to cloud-native practices, enhancing infrastructure efficiency and scalability.
  • Agile Team Participation: Actively engage in Agile project teams, contributing to deliverables and promoting continuous improvement in DevSecOps practices.
  • Production Support: Provide support for production applications or workloads in a cloud environment, emphasizing automation in operational tasks.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree is required.
  • Extensive AWS Knowledge: At least 8 years of experience in designing and implementing solutions on AWS, with proficiency in CloudFormation and/or Terraform for IaC strategies. A strong passion for automating cloud operations is essential.
  • CI/CD Expertise: Proven experience in creating and automating CI/CD pipelines, with a focus on integrating security, quality, and testing using tools such as Jenkins and GitLab.
  • Containerization Skills: Advanced knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm, demonstrating efficiency in containerization and orchestration.
  • Programming Skills: Strong programming and scripting abilities, particularly in Java and Python, aimed at automating tasks and enhancing operational efficiency.
  • Advanced Cloud Networking and Security: Proficient in secure cloud networking concepts and configurations, including virtual private clouds, load balancing, and transport layer security, with insights into high availability and disaster recovery strategies. Experience in cloud security measures, including TLS/SSL, encryption, and key management, supported by automated security assessments and testing.
  • Infrastructure Optimization: Proven capability in sizing and optimizing hardware and storage solutions to meet project demands effectively. Good understanding of designing systems for high availability and disaster recovery.
  • Cloud Migration Leadership: Experienced in managing large-scale migrations from traditional data centers to cloud platforms and cloud-native architectures.
  • Innovative Problem-Solving: A proactive approach, consistently seeking process improvements and contributing unique solutions to complex challenges.
  • Compliance Acumen: Familiarity with major compliance standards such as FISMA, FedRAMP, NIST SP800-53, SOC, etc., to enhance the privacy, cybersecurity, and compliance posture of cloud solutions.
  • Dynamic Project Management: Exceptional ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously, applying innovative strategies to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Preferred: Experience in the government sector, particularly with DHS, and current public trust clearance.

Preferred Certifications:

  • AWS Certification such as Certified Solutions Architect/DevOps Engineer
  • Certified Kubernetes Administrator/Developer
  • Terraform Certified Associate
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
