Job Description

T-Rex Solutions is seeking a highly skilled Cloud Architect Lead to design, deploy, and maintain secure and resilient cloud environments for the Department of Education.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design cloud-based system architectures that incorporate public and private cloud technologies, software, hardware, and communications solutions to meet the total requirements and provide for present and future cross-functional requirements and interfaces.
  • Ensure architectures comply with open systems standards applicable to the client's environment.
  • Evaluate the compatibility of information system development efforts with agency architectures and recommend adjustments as necessary.
  • Evaluate problems related to cloud connectivity, cloud platform architecture, workflow, organization, and planning, and develop appropriate corrective action.

Requirements:

  • Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
  • Strong experience in one or more architecture domains, such as business architecture, solutions architecture, or application architecture.
  • Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures of cloud technology, including Software as a Service (SaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), or Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS).
  • Experience working in the public cloud.
  • Proven background working in cloud environments with experience and knowledge in 4 or more of the following areas:
    • Agile methodologies, including Scrum or Kanban.
    • Agile collaboration tools, such as Atlassian Jira, Confluence.
    • CI/CD tools, including Jenkins, GitLab, Bitbucket, Artifactory.
    • CSPs, including Azure, AWS, or OCI.
    • Containerization and container management with Kubernetes and Helm.
    • Security automation with tools, such as Static Application Security Testing (SAST) and Dynamic Application Security Testing (DAST).
    • Cyber tools, including Aviatrix, Orca, Splunk, Amulous, STIG scanner.
    • Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation.
    • Git, branching strategies, GitFlow, and/or GitHub Flow.
    • Cloud high availability and scalability best practices and architectures.
  • Ability to meet with customers to gather and understand business requirements.
  • Ability to quickly adapt to new situations and changing priorities.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Must be punctual, reliable, and accountable for themselves, with the ability to follow through with tasks to completion.

Desired Education & Experience:

  • 10+ years of progressive experience engineering and architecting public cloud environments.
  • AWS Certified Solution Architect Associate or higher certification.
  • Experience working in an agile environment preferred.
