Healthcare Access Coordinator

The Patient Access Specialist plays a crucial role in financial counseling, including the collection of co-pays and deductibles, as well as providing financial assistance education to patients and their families.
This position involves responsibilities such as stat registration, appointment scheduling, and the completion of registration by gathering and entering all relevant financial and demographic data into the ADT system. Additionally, the role requires verifying insurance benefits, generating the ABN, reviewing orders for compliance, completing MSP, obtaining financial and treatment consents, and scheduling ordered medical procedures, including obtaining pre-certification when necessary, all while adhering to regulatory requirements.
The Patient Access Specialist must exhibit a strong Customer Focus characterized by Patience, Composure, and Compassion.
Effective coping with change is essential, along with possessing robust Time Management skills and Interpersonal Savvy, while fostering Peer Relationships.
This role demands expert Functional/Technical skills to provide financial assessments and evaluations for each patient entering the healthcare facility.The Patient Access Specialist must understand the hospital's financial policies, apply them to patient interactions, and ensure payment for the patient's hospital liabilities.
Maintaining exceptional customer service standards is imperative for effective communication with physicians, physician offices, patients, and colleagues.
Patient Access Specialists are expected to perform all duties efficiently while safeguarding patient confidentiality and privacy rights.Education
Minimum Level of Education Required:
High School completion / GED

Preferred educational qualifications:
Associates Degree preferred in healthcare or a related business field.
Position specific testing requirement:
Proficiency in Windows-based computer technology, including keyboarding and typing at least 25 wpm is required.
Licensure/Certification/Registration
Medical Terminology certification is preferred.
Experience
Minimum Level of Experience Required: - 3 years of job-related experience
Preferred experience:
Experience in customer service, general clerical/office, hospital, medical office/clinic, or insurance company settings. Relevant coursework may substitute for previous work experience.
