Position Summary:
As a Senior Federal Affairs Specialist at PPL, you will play a pivotal role in shaping energy policy and advocating for our company’s interests. We are looking for a strategic and passionate individual to join our Federal Affairs team, focusing on legislative and agency relations. This role places you at the forefront of significant issues affecting the electric and gas utility sector during a critical period for the industry. You will have the opportunity to excel as a policy analyst, strategist, relationship builder, and company advocate. Collaborating with industry leaders and policymakers, you will ensure our voice is heard and our interests are safeguarded.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Issue Monitoring: Proactively track federal legislation and agency actions to identify potential impacts on the electric and gas utility sectors and company operations.
  • Policy Analysis: Conduct preliminary analyses of legislative and agency issues, pinpointing areas that require further investigation by the Federal Affairs Team and internal experts.
  • Advocacy Development: Assist the Federal Affairs Team in formulating effective response strategies to critical legislative and agency matters.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Cultivate and maintain robust relationships with key external stakeholders, including congressional members, agency personnel, trade associations, and industry representatives.
  • Company Representation: Advocate for the company in interactions with external stakeholders, clearly articulating our established goals and objectives.
  • Strategic Alignment: Stay informed about industry trends and company developments to ensure advocacy efforts align with corporate positions and strategic objectives.
  • Strategy Implementation: Collaborate with the Federal Affairs team to develop effective advocacy strategies, ensuring alignment with PPL's overarching goals.
  • Research and Communication: Support Federal Affairs team members with research, writing, and communication tasks for both internal and external audiences, including policy reports and updates.
  • PAC Support: Assist with activities related to the company’s political action committee, including compliance, communications, and member relations.
  • Federal Incentives: Provide support in securing federal grants, rebates, credits, and other incentives.
  • Perform additional duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications:
Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Government Affairs, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience on Capitol Hill, at a federal agency, or in government relations, public affairs, or a relevant field.
  • Strong understanding of the federal legislative and agency processes.
  • Excellent analytical, research, and writing capabilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of the electric and gas utility sectors is preferred.
  • Existing relationships with congressional members, legislative staff, or agency officials are advantageous.
  • Experience with PAC administration is a plus.
  • Familiarity with PPL's operational footprint is beneficial.
