The Public Policy Specialist is expected to execute all tasks with a dedication to delivering exceptional service to the firm's attorneys, advisors, and staff, while fostering a collaborative and progressive work environment. Key responsibilities include:

  • Maintain an informed understanding of the legislative process and Capitol Hill, cultivating essential relationships as necessary.
  • Stay updated on pending legislation, industry developments, and current events that may affect clients and potential clients.
  • Attend and provide summaries of Congressional hearings.
  • Conduct thorough, timely research and compile findings effectively.
  • Draft client-facing materials such as talking points, articles, briefings, alerts, letters, and other documents.
  • Organize and/or participate in meetings with members of the Public Law & Policy team, clients, and Congressional representatives or their staff.
  • Monitor and report on media coverage relevant to clients and their interests.
  • Support client development efforts, including research and collaboration with business development on presentations and proposals.
  • Review and proofread the work of colleagues.
  • Perform additional legislative support tasks as required.

Qualifications (Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):

  • A Bachelor's degree is required.
  • Fundamental knowledge of the legislative process is essential.
  • Experience in political or campaign settings is advantageous, though not mandatory.
  • Familiarity with political and legislative frameworks.
  • Understanding of regulatory and administrative procedures.
  • Proficiency in Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong research and writing capabilities.
  • Comfort with video conferencing tools, such as Zoom.
  • Ability to take initiative and work proactively.
  • Capacity to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and prioritize effectively under pressure.
  • Ability to collaborate within a team environment with peers and supervisors.
  • Good judgment, along with a strong sense of responsibility, integrity, and loyalty.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality regarding client, firm, and office information while adhering to the Firm's Core Values.
