Position: Engineering Technician I

This role as an engineering technician involves close collaboration with our engineering team, quality assurance personnel, operations leaders, and supervisors within the Bayport Engineered Materials division (extrusion) to promote ongoing improvement and safety initiatives at the site. The technician will support various daily and weekly tasks while also contributing to longer-term projects. This position is vital for achieving our operational goals while emphasizing continuous enhancement of departmental processes.

Work Schedule: Primarily 1st shift, with the possibility of occasional 2nd or 3rd shift assignments as necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

Collaborate on cross-functional initiatives related to continuous improvement and safety. Address safety incidents, machine downtimes, or quality deviations from customer standards, with guidance from the engineering team. Assist with various Engineering and Operations projects as required. Proactively identify potential issues related to downtime, scrap, or reliability and escalate them appropriately. Drive the standardization of processes and methodologies. Comprehend all necessary departmental documentation standards and their implications on the extrusion and compounding processes. Ensure documentation is accurately completed, reviewed, and approved, and communicate effectively with Engineering, Quality, and Operations.

Required Qualifications:

High School Diploma with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience. Strong ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities. Excellent problem-solving skills and a focus on process enhancement. Self-driven with exceptional verbal and written communication abilities. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships. Demonstrated interest and aptitude for technical work. Familiarity with CAD, PC, and various software applications.
