Position Overview

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage with regulatory authorities and possess in-depth knowledge of permitting processes.
  • Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D, AutoTurn, and Office products (Word, Excel) effectively.
  • Participate in both conceptual design and final engineering phases.
  • Lead civil engineering teams during project meetings.
  • Collaborate on large, multi-disciplinary projects, sometimes taking a leadership role.
  • Design underground utilities with precision.
  • Adapt to a fast-paced, schedule-driven work environment.
  • Ensure commitments are met consistently.
  • Conduct fieldwork and oversee construction activities, which may involve climbing and extensive walking.
  • Monitor project budgets and timelines.
  • Provide mentorship to junior engineers.
  • Assist in project scoping and estimating as needed.
  • Perform material take-offs and construction estimating when applicable.
  • Exhibit excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Work collaboratively on multiple projects as a team player.
  • Occasional travel primarily within Virginia.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Structural or Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience, preferably in heavy industrial settings.
  • Professional Engineer license in Virginia; additional licenses in other states are advantageous.
  • Comprehensive understanding of site plan package development, including grading and drainage design, stormwater management, underground utilities, and erosion and sediment control.
  • Please note: This position is currently remote, but onsite presence may be required at times.
