Job Responsibilities
- Collaborate with regulatory authorities and possess extensive knowledge of permitting processes.
- Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D, AutoTurn, and Office products (Word, Excel) effectively.
- Engage in both conceptual design and final engineering processes.
- Lead civil engineering teams during project meetings.
- Participate in and sometimes lead teams on large, multi-disciplinary projects.
- Design underground utilities with expertise.
- Excel in a fast-paced, schedule-oriented environment.
- Commit to and fulfill project obligations.
- Conduct fieldwork and oversee construction activities, including climbing and extensive walking.
- Monitor project budgets and timelines.
- Mentor junior engineers to foster their development.
- Assist in project scoping and estimating as needed.
- Conduct material take-offs and construction estimating as required.
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Work collaboratively on multiple projects as a team player.
- Engage in light travel, primarily within the state of Virginia.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Structural or Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience, preferably in heavy industrial settings.
- Professional Engineer license in Virginia; additional state licenses are advantageous.
- In-depth knowledge of site plan package development, including grading and drainage design, stormwater management, underground utilities, and erosion and sediment control.
- Note: Remote work is currently an option for this position.
