Position Overview

As a pivotal member of the executive team, the Senior Vice President for Information Technology will lead the strategic vision and operational management of the Information Technology Services (ITS) department. This role is integral to shaping the technological landscape of the University of North Carolina Asheville, ensuring that IT initiatives align with the institution's mission and objectives.

Key Responsibilities

The Senior Vice President will:

  • Report directly to the Executive Vice Chancellor for Budget and Finance.
  • Oversee the comprehensive IT strategy, fostering an environment that supports academic excellence, research initiatives, and administrative functions.
  • Collaborate with university leaders to devise innovative and cost-effective technology solutions.
  • Manage a diverse team of approximately 35 IT professionals, promoting a culture of teamwork and collaboration.
  • Engage with external partners to enhance the university's IT capabilities, leveraging resources within the UNC System and other consortia.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:
  • A Master's degree in Information Technology, Business, or a related discipline, with a minimum of seven years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership in IT, including strategic planning, budgeting, and process improvement.
  • A proven track record of building collaborative relationships across various departments.
  • Experience in higher education settings, with a strong understanding of IT infrastructure and services.
