JOB PURPOSE:
  • The Fleet Maintenance Supervisor oversees the comprehensive functioning of the maintenance division.
  • This role entails managing the daily upkeep and maintenance of facilities that support maintenance operations across all shifts.
  • The Supervisor directs the maintenance and cleaning teams, ensuring their effective use and professional growth.
  • Responsible for budget management, procurement, and inventory oversight related to vehicle maintenance, while adhering to corporate standards for preventive maintenance.
  • The Supervisor offers daily assistance to the Operations Division, ensuring that customers receive high-quality vehicles, focusing on both maintenance and aesthetic aspects.
  • Routine reporting on maintenance metrics, parts inventory, and operational challenges is also a key responsibility.
ESSENTIAL POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Ensures adherence to company policies on a daily basis.
  • Plans, supervises, and coordinates tasks for all maintenance personnel, including mechanics and cleaning staff.
  • Establishes and maintains a comprehensive record-keeping system for vehicle maintenance, utilizing existing software to document repairs and preventive services; analyzes these records for insights and progress.
  • Guarantees that all fleet vehicles comply with necessary inspections, including state and military requirements.
  • Enforces company policies and procedures, including attendance standards and proper work hour accounting.
  • Responsible for training and developing staff within the maintenance department.
  • Plans, assigns, and evaluates employee performance and addresses any complaints or issues.
  • Monitors expenditures, purchases, and parts inventory, reviewing these weekly to maintain budget compliance.
  • Ensures preventive maintenance is scheduled and records are kept in line with standards; oversees proper diagnostics and repairs for all fleet vehicles.
  • Exhibits continuous leadership and sets a positive example for team members.
  • Effectively troubleshoots daily operational challenges.
  • Maintains the maintenance facility in compliance with all relevant environmental and safety regulations.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assists the safety department with compliance documentation for regulatory bodies.
  • Strives for ongoing improvements that enhance outcomes for both employees and customers.
  • Promotes a positive workplace culture through effective leadership and engagement with all staff.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
POSITIONS SUPERVISED - DIRECT/INDIRECT REPORTS:
  • Parts Specialist, mechanics, and cleaning staff.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Education:
    • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Job Experience:
    • A minimum of five (5) years of hands-on experience with heavy-duty diesel vehicles or buses.
    • At least five (5) years of supervisory experience is required.
  • Additional Skills:
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented.
  • Extensive maintenance experience is essential.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational abilities.
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations, as well as OSHA and EPA standards.
  • Ability to apply this knowledge to the ongoing repair of company equipment and facilities.
  • Demonstrated leadership and motivational capabilities.
  • Professional demeanor in all interactions, both in person and via telephone.
  • Customer service-oriented with exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • Able to supervise, coordinate, and lead maintenance and cleaning personnel.
  • Familiarity with major vehicle systems and diagnostic software.
  • Proficient in reading electrical schematics and diagnosing electrical circuits, with a solid understanding of ohm's law.
