Position: Safety Operations Supervisor

Reports To: Director of Facility Operations

FSLA Status: Hourly - Non-Exempt

Overview:

The Safety Operations Supervisor is tasked with overseeing and directing all facets of safety services at ASM Global venues, primarily focusing on safeguarding the well-being of all events, employees, and the facility itself. This position necessitates close collaboration with the Operations Manager to formulate and execute operational policies and safety protocols. The Safety Operations Supervisor will lead a team of safety supervisors and personnel, ensuring that safety operations are conducted efficiently and effectively during events, conventions, trade shows, and daily activities.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and Management:

  • Directly oversee safety shift personnel, providing guidance, support, and essential training.
  • Conduct training sessions on the Evolv security screening system for all users.
  • Facilitate shift briefings to communicate vital information and ensure team alignment.
  • Review departmental checklists to ensure all equipment is accounted for and operational.
  • Provide timely feedback and initiate necessary counseling or disciplinary actions for safety staff.
Safety Operations:
  • Manage the securing of the premises, including locking and unlocking facility access points as required.
  • Supervise and train the event safety team.
  • Perform routine property inspections to identify and address any safety concerns.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to emergency situations, coordinating with relevant authorities and departments.
  • Engage with the public, management, and fellow employees to maintain a safe and secure environment.
  • Handle disruptive individuals and safety incidents with professionalism and adherence to established protocols.
  • Collaborate with Event Management staff, local Fire, and Police Departments to coordinate off-duty safety details.
Strategic Planning and Execution:
  • Work independently to assess and respond to safety situations, exercising sound judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Ensure the proper functioning of safety monitoring systems, overseeing recording and data management.
Qualifications:

Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or G.E.D. required; some college coursework preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in safety or security roles, preferably in a similar environment.
  • At least 2 years of supervisory experience in the safety field.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
Skills and Competencies:
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Effective leadership and management of safety personnel.
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to interact professionally at all levels.
  • Proficiency in both written and verbal communication.
  • Flexibility to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Professional appearance, demeanor, and work ethic.
  • Basic computer knowledge, including familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Understanding of safety monitoring systems and data management.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to engage in significant walking, climbing, stooping, and potentially heavy lifting.
  • Work in both indoor and outdoor settings may be required.
  • May be exposed to adverse conditions, including physical contact with hostile individuals.
