Job Overview

The University of Virginia is seeking a committed individual to become part of our team as a Mental Health Technician. In this position, you will be tasked with delivering patient care responsibilities and supporting unit operations under the guidance of a qualified healthcare professional in an inpatient psychiatric environment. Your key duties will encompass:

  • Assisting healthcare professionals with patient-related procedures
  • Ensuring a secure environment and the safe provision of care
  • Fostering your own professional growth as well as that of your colleagues
  • Executing unit support tasks as instructed

Compensation Range: $26.30 per hour

Essential Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent. An Associate's degree in psychology, social sciences, or humanities is preferred.

Experience: A minimum of 4 years of documented experience in caring for patients within an inpatient psychiatric setting, a Community Service Board, or similar role as a direct care provider.

Licensure: Active CNA certification through the Virginia Board of Nursing or AAPT Certification, along with BLS certification is mandatory.

Physical Requirements

This role necessitates bending, stooping, and mobility. Candidates should possess effective communication, auditory, and visual abilities, as well as the capacity to lift, push, or pull weights ranging from 20 to 50 pounds.
