Position Overview

The role of the Catering Server is essential in ensuring that catered meals are delivered and presented to the highest standards. This position requires a keen eye for detail and a commitment to excellence in food service.

Core Responsibilities

  • Efficiently deliver and set up catered food items in an appealing manner, adhering to both Guckenheimer and client expectations.
  • Ensure timely deliveries to designated locations on campus, maintaining professionalism throughout the process.
  • Skillfully arrange catered meals, ensuring all necessary utensils and condiments are included.

  • Strong communication skills to interact effectively with clients and team members.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Proficient in the safe and correct use of standard kitchen equipment, including chef's knives, convection ovens, and slicing machines.
  • Understanding of food preparation processes, quality control, and cost management.
  • Familiarity with standard catering presentation techniques.
  • Basic computer skills for data entry and menu organization, with experience in Microsoft Office and Google applications.
  • Possession of a current ServSafe or Food Handler certification, or the ability to obtain certification promptly after hiring.

Key Duties

  • Organize and execute the delivery and setup of catered food items, ensuring all components of the order are included.
  • Review delivery schedules to guarantee punctual service.
  • Utilize catering equipment safely and effectively.
  • Implement standard catering presentation methods and maintain quality control.
  • Adhere to HACCP program requirements and follow safety protocols to prevent accidents.
  • Embrace the service values and ethics of the organization.
  • Assist colleagues during busy periods or emergencies as needed.
  • Remain calm and effective under pressure, accepting feedback positively.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift a minimum of 25 pounds.
  • Willingness to work on feet for extended periods, excluding breaks.
  • Capability to manage time-sensitive tasks during peak service periods.
  • Proficient in using a computer keyboard for extended durations.
  • Deliver food items using carts and vehicles, and manage loading and pushing carts over short distances.
