Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Phlebotomy Trainer to join our team at Clinical Pathology Laboratories, Inc. As a Phlebotomy Trainer, you will be responsible for providing high-quality training to new hires and continuing education to established employees in the phlebotomy department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement training programs to ensure staff is accurately obtaining blood samples via venipuncture and capillary collection procedures with minimum customer discomfort.
  • Train and monitor staff on laboratory procedures for specimen collection, handling, and processing to ensure specimen integrity.
  • Adhere to and train staff on departmental policies and procedures, including quality control, quality assurance, and safety.
  • Utilize job knowledge, judgment, and problem-solving skills to ensure quality and efficiency in the phlebotomy department.
  • Participate in departmental quality assurance programs and laboratory training programs.
  • Effectively communicate with laboratory staff and customers to ensure quality patient care and maintain a positive work environment.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Preferred – Certified by the American Society of Phlebotomy Technicians
  • Minimum – training or experience in specimen collection and/or processing
  • Preferred – two years of laboratory training or experience in specimen collection and processing
Working Conditions

This role will have routine access to Protected Health Information (PHI). Employees will be trained on reasonable safeguards and are expected to maintain strict confidentiality, as well as abide by all applicable privacy and security standards.

The physical demands of this role include light to medium lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 50 pounds, as well as manipulation of tools, objects, and equipment using various physical motions.

The environmental demands of this role include working in a temperature-controlled environment with constant exposure to biological and chemical hazards.
