Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement training programs for phlebotomy staff to ensure they meet competency levels and adhere to departmental policies and procedures.
  • Train and monitor staff on specimen collection, handling, and processing procedures to ensure quality and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with department supervisors and assistant supervisors to ensure effective training and monitoring of staff.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with laboratory procedures and regulations.
  • Provide backup phlebotomy coverage as needed and participate in departmental quality assurance programs.
  • Operate general laboratory equipment and effectively communicate with laboratory staff and customers.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED required; certification preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of laboratory training or experience in specimen collection and processing.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels within the laboratory and with laboratory customers.
  • Ability to read and write.
  • Physical demands include light to medium lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
Working Conditions

This role requires working in a temperature-controlled environment with constant exposure to biological and chemical hazards. May be required to operate fire and safety equipment or follow other safety procedures in an emergency situation.
