Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Gameplay Systems Engineer to join our team at Blizzard Entertainment. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining various gameplay systems for our games, ensuring they meet our design vision and performance goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Implement Gameplay Systems: Collaborate with designers, artists, and other engineers to design and implement gameplay systems that meet our design vision and performance goals.
  • Optimize Gameplay Performance: Analyze and improve the performance of gameplay systems to ensure smooth and responsive player experiences on a range of hardware configurations.
  • Provide Technical Leadership: Provide technical leadership and mentorship to less experienced team members, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented development environment.
  • Debug and Resolve Complex Issues: Identify and fix bugs, optimize code, and troubleshoot issues in gameplay systems to ensure stability and reliability in the final product.
Requirements
  • Minimum 5 Years of Game Programming Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in game programming, with a shipped AAA title.
  • Proficient in C/C++: Proficient in C/C++ programming languages.
  • Experience in Gameplay Systems: Experience in several areas of gameplay systems, including quests and narrative content systems, user interface, player abilities, combat, AI, or other game systems.
  • Experience Working with Multi-Disciplinary Teams: Experience working with multi-disciplinary teams, including designers, artists, and other engineers.
  • Self-Motivation and Willingness to Participate: Self-motivation and willingness to participate in many areas of game development.
Bonus Requirements
  • In-Depth Familiarity with Diablo Franchise: In-depth familiarity with the Diablo franchise and other Blizzard Entertainment products.
  • Experience with RPGs, ARPGs, and MMORPGs: Experience playing and/or developing RPGs, ARPGs, and/or MMORPGs.
  • Experience with Client/Server Game Systems: Experience working with client/server game systems.
  • Experience Crafting and Supporting Tools: Experience crafting and supporting tools used in game development.
  • Experience with C#: Experience with C# programming language.
