Overview of Responsibilities

The Regional Operations Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing the maintenance and functionality of the area's generation, transmission, and auxiliary systems, ensuring operations are conducted safely and efficiently to provide reliable energy services.

As the Asset Performance Manager , you will lead asset performance initiatives within the region. This position involves strategizing and executing new asset development and maintenance plans, assessing asset efficiency, managing asset data, and driving the strategic and tactical performance of assets to maximize value.

The Operations Manager is tasked with ensuring the safe, efficient, and economical operation of the region's resources. This role emphasizes maintaining high availability through operational excellence and compliance with all relevant safety and environmental regulations.

The Maintenance Manager (Electrical, Instrumentation & Control, Technical Services, General, Mechanical, Transmission) is responsible for the safe and effective upkeep and repair of assets in the region. This includes providing guidance to oversee, plan, and execute preventive, corrective, and construction tasks, ensuring compliance with maintenance standards.

The Manager will represent the region in various committees that establish departmental standards.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and develop team members, including performance evaluations, salary management, succession planning, and workload distribution. Assess and recommend staffing needs. Facilitate the implementation of labor agreements to ensure an effective workforce. Collaborate with supervisors and labor representatives to develop staff, manage disciplinary actions, and address grievances. Assist in negotiations, grievance handling, contract management, and labor relations. Formulate and present short- (1-2 years), mid- (5-6 years), and long- (10 years) term plans as part of the Regional Asset Management Strategy. Prepare records for budget submissions and other reports. Conduct ongoing risk assessments using key indicators and other methods to identify risks, developing response plans for significant risks as outlined in the Asset Management Risk Framework. Identify and prioritize projects from the Regional Asset Management Plan (RAMP) that enhance asset management or mitigate risks. Evaluate project options for asset optimization through the Utility Operations Project Portfolio (UOPP) process, considering risks, costs, and performance expectations. Assist in developing business cases with cost-benefit analyses. Support the development of capital and non-recurring O&M plans and participate in the UOPP process, providing site support for plan execution as needed. Foster leadership, motivation, and collaboration essential for effective asset management. Drive the utilization of digital systems (Maximo, APM, DataSplice, GADS) to their maximum potential. Advocate for the principles and advantages of Asset Management, promoting awareness through training and communication channels. Ensure compliance with Asset Management policies and procedures, focusing on Configuration Management. Enhance interdepartmental communication by building relationships with stakeholders. Engage in change management initiatives to uphold high performance standards. Collaborate with various departments to provide senior management with updates on operational and maintenance activities, assessing progress and suggesting alternative plans. Plan for contingencies during adverse weather or equipment emergencies. Work closely with management on projects or issues involving relationships with external stakeholders. Develop skills to serve as a backup for the Regional Manager.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Strong leadership, personnel management, project management, and asset management capabilities. Excellent communication, organizational, and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels. Experience managing a diverse workforce, including union and contracted personnel. Ability to listen to diverse perspectives while constructively questioning and making objective decisions. Proficient in conflict resolution involving labor, technical, operational, and financial matters. Ability to align daily operational tasks with the department's annual goals. Advanced financial acumen; capable of managing financial systems and responsibilities. Strong prioritization and delegation skills for technical issues. Proficient in preparing reports for production, compliance, budgets, and long-term projects. Comprehensive knowledge of machinery and processes in the generation and transmission sector. Familiarity with local, regional, and corporate policies and procedures. Ability to represent the organization in industry committees. Proficient in computer applications, including Maximo and Microsoft Office Suite.

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil Engineering, or a related technical field. MBA or advanced business/finance degree preferred. At least 12 years of experience in electric utility operations or a related field. Proven experience leading committees and influencing across the organization. Demonstrated success in developing a collaborative team. Minimum of 5 years of managerial experience with union and salaried staff. Preferred experience with Lockout/Tagout procedures. P.E. License preferred. Experience managing multiple disciplines and coordinating emergency preparedness efforts. Advanced training in labor management preferred. Experience collaborating with utilities, regulatory bodies, and external organizations.
