Position Overview

The **County Extension 4-H Program Assistant** serves as a vital resource in the delivery of the 4-H program within the designated area. This role involves collaboration with County Extension Agents to facilitate educational initiatives and support the operational aspects of the program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Organize and lead in-school club meetings, ensuring adherence to state educational standards.
  • Engage and recruit students for participation in 4-H programs, fostering interest and involvement.
  • Assist in the recruitment and management of volunteers, guiding them through the necessary screening processes.
  • Support 4-H participants in preparing for competitive events, including project achievements and judging teams.
  • Coordinate transportation for 4-H members to district and state events, providing leadership during these activities.
  • Utilize local media outlets to promote 4-H events and highlight participant achievements.
  • Enhance program visibility through the county website and other digital platforms.

Professional Development
  • Participate in training sessions and workshops as directed by the 4-H Agent or District Extension Director.
  • Engage in collaborative planning and evaluation meetings with colleagues to enhance program effectiveness.
  • Conduct all activities in alignment with the Equal Opportunity plan of the University of Georgia Cooperative Extension.

Administrative Duties
  • Prepare and submit comprehensive reports on program activities and participant enrollment in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with county staff to manage budgetary allocations for program resources, ensuring fiscal responsibility.

Qualifications
  • Technical knowledge in relevant fields, ideally supported by a degree or professional certification.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to foster relationships with youth, adults, and community stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in computer applications for effective communication and data management.
