Role Summary: The 4-H Program Development Assistant is a vital role within the UGA Cooperative Extension, focusing on delivering engaging 4-H programming to youth in the community. This position collaborates closely with Extension faculty and staff, reporting directly to the County Extension Coordinator and the District Extension Director.
Key Responsibilities:
- Program Delivery: Conduct in-school club meetings and implement a curriculum that aligns with state guidelines. Utilize feedback and evaluations to enhance future programming.
- Event Coordination: Support 4-H Club members in preparing for competitive events, ensuring transportation and leadership during district and state events.
- Volunteer Management: Identify, recruit, and train 4-H volunteers, assisting them in completing necessary training and managing various programs such as the Archery Team and Livestock Show Teams.
- Communication: Prepare and submit reports to stakeholders, utilizing electronic media and personal interactions to maintain transparency and engagement.
- Office Support: Participate in staff meetings for planning and evaluation, while assisting with daily operations of the County Extension Office.
Qualifications:
Applicants should possess technical knowledge in the field, which may be acquired through an apprenticeship, a two-year degree, or a professional certificate. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse groups are essential.
Physical Requirements:
The role involves standing for extended periods, lifting up to 25 pounds, and effectively presenting programs to audiences without amplification. Driving is a responsibility of this position, and it requires interaction with youth under the age of 18.
