Extension Agent for 4-H and Youth Development

About the Position

This is a unique opportunity to join our team as a 4-H and Youth Development Program Manager. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for managing the 4-H & Youth Development Program in Warren/Glascock County.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement educational programs for youth in 4-H club meetings, local activities, and events.
  • Recruit, process, and utilize volunteer leaders to conduct specialty 4-H clubs, competitive teams, events, and activities.
  • Organize and conduct fundraising activities to support the 4-H program.
  • Develop a plan of work that meets the needs of the county's socio-economic situations.
  • Collaborate with other agencies and community groups to plan and implement programs.
  • Conduct promotional efforts to expand the public's view of extension programming.
  • Utilize current research data and information on emerging issues in program development and teaching.
  • Participate in and support civic/community activities/organizations and network with community leaders.
  • Ensure the Civil Rights/Equal Employment Opportunity plan of UGA Cooperative Extension is followed.
Requirements
  • A Master's degree in Human/Youth Development, Sociology, Education, Agriculture, Family & Consumer Sciences, Recreation, or related area.
  • Ability to organize and carry out activities and manage educational programming for youth.
  • Demonstrated communication ability.
  • Skills in leadership and management.
  • Ability to design, coordinate, and teach educational programs to meet community needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a team member and engage with groups and committees.
  • Computer skills, including knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Ability to speak to/teach large groups of residents.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with county, district, and state staff, local government employees, and clientele.
  • Ability to show high standards of professionalism in personal contacts, appearance, and work habits.
  • Ability to express thoughts clearly and concisely through written and verbal communication.
Working Conditions

This position requires frequent night meetings, some weekend work, and attendance at out-of-county meetings. A valid driver's license and access to a reliable private vehicle for official duty travel are required.
