The University of Georgia is seeking a dedicated individual for the role of 4-H Program Assistant within the Southwest District Cooperative Extension. This position plays a crucial role in the management and execution of the 4-H county program, ensuring that youth engagement and educational initiatives are delivered effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Event Preparation: Assist 4-H participants in getting ready for competitive events, including project achievements and judging teams. This may involve arranging transportation for participants to various district and state events, as well as providing leadership during these occasions.
- Curriculum Delivery: Conduct in-school club meetings and implement a curriculum that aligns with state guidelines. Incorporate feedback from program evaluations to enhance future programming.
- Volunteer Support: Aid volunteers in completing the 4-H Chaperone Training and manage programs led by volunteers, such as the Archery Team and Livestock Show Teams.
- Administrative Duties: Participate in staff meetings, develop necessary computer skills for effective communication, and assist with daily operations of the Cooperative Extension office.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess technical knowledge in the field, which can be acquired through an apprenticeship, a two-year degree, or a professional certificate. Strong independent judgment and the ability to manage both program administration and educational delivery are essential.
Work Environment
This position requires travel within the county and to various events across the state. The candidate must be prepared for occasional weekend and evening commitments.
