Job Overview:
The City of Boise, ID is seeking a Senior Financial Planning Analyst. This position is essential for providing financial guidance and strategic support to various departments and citywide initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as the primary financial consultant for assigned departments, ensuring alignment with the city's overall financial objectives.
  • Oversee the compilation and analysis of citywide budget data, focusing on key revenue streams and expenditure categories.
  • Collaborate with city departments to forecast, maintain, and develop budgets that reflect the city's priorities.
  • Engage with stakeholders to address and resolve budget-related inquiries.
  • Assist in the preparation, presentation, and dissemination of the city's budget documentation.
  • Conduct in-depth financial research, including service analyses, cost and revenue assessments, and performance evaluations.
  • Support the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures.
  • Perform operational reviews aimed at enhancing efficiency and optimizing city resources.
  • Generate monthly budget variance reports and memos for presentations to city leadership.
  • Lead special projects related to financial planning, including cost studies and performance assessments.
  • Prepare quarterly and annual budget updates for the executive management team and city council.

Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, accounting, or a related discipline, coupled with a minimum of five years of experience in budget development and financial reporting within a complex organization.

Preferred Skills:
  • Experience in advanced financial planning within the public sector.
  • Possession of relevant certifications such as Certified Public Finance Officer or Certified Government Financial Manager.

Candidates must successfully complete the background check process mandated by the City of Boise.
