Senior Structural Consultant
Location: Arlington, VA - Onsite

Position Overview:


Marathon TS is in search of a seasoned Structural Consultant with a strong background in the construction sector to deliver Owner's Representative construction management services for a Department of Defense (DoD) client.

The Senior Structural Consultant will play a pivotal role in overseeing a portfolio of construction projects exceeding $300 million, encompassing a variety of scales and complexities.

This role requires a comprehensive range of Structural Engineering knowledge and construction management support to effectively assist the DoD client.

The selected candidate will collaborate closely with senior government project managers and fellow contractor project managers, contributing to a broader construction initiative.

Demonstrated leadership capabilities, teamwork, and the ability to work autonomously are essential. Marathon TS seeks an individual who communicates effectively, takes initiative, and demonstrates a strong sense of project ownership.


Key Responsibilities:
1. Support engineering and design activities related to pre-construction efforts.
2. Assist project managers in overseeing awarded construction contracts.
3. Facilitate Government acquisition processes for both A/E services and construction projects by coordinating with various Government working groups.
4. Provide Subject Matter Expertise in managing and supervising studies and designs for new constructions, renovations, and enhancements to real property facilities.
5. Offer engineering support and analysis to the Government in managing awarded study and design contracts, including reviewing A/E contractor submissions and providing detailed reports of findings.
6. Actively assist the Government in conducting site evaluations, field surveys, and site visits to assess constructability and compliance with codes.
7. Develop preliminary scopes of work, validate requirements, and engage in pre-bid conferences.
8. Participate in risk analysis walkthroughs and value engineering initiatives.
9. Support the Government in formulating technical requirements, scopes of work, cost estimates, and schedules for A/E services, including studies, reports, and drawing reviews.
10. Conduct design technical reviews from initial concept through to final design documentation, ensuring a thorough submittal review process.
11. Independently organize, lead, and participate in weekly project progress meetings and monthly program reviews to assess schedule adherence, identify deviations from the baseline schedule, and evaluate risks to long-term project health.
12. Assess schedule risks and propose mitigation strategies.
13. Work autonomously to gather requirements and data from engineers, project managers, or clients, ensuring timely and professional submissions.
14. Maintain construction administration data using Excel and web-based software for aggregation and use as metrics and briefing tools for senior leadership.
15. Regularly prepare and present project status updates, develop and maintain performance metrics, and produce well-crafted technical reports. Provide written and oral updates to Government leadership and program managers, frequently briefing senior leadership.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Pentagon WHS is highly desirable.

Required Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering with a minimum of 15 years of relevant experience
OR
2. Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering with at least 13 years of relevant experience.
3. Over 20 years of experience in civil and structural design and design reviews, including a minimum of 10 years of experience with the Unified Facility Code and International Building Code, along with a Professional Engineer (PE) License.
4. Must be a U.S. Citizen.
5. Must be able to pass and maintain a Public Trust clearance (HSPD-12 fingerprint background check).

Work Environment:
Standard business hours, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
