Position Overview:
This role is situated within the Department of Housing and Urban Development's Office of Inspector General, specifically in the Office of Audit.
As a Performance Auditor, your primary responsibility will be to execute internal and external evaluations and audits of HUD programs, which are managed by HUD and other external participants.
Eligibility Requirements:
To qualify, you must meet the eligibility and qualification criteria by the specified closing date. It is essential to respond to all job-related inquiries in the questionnaire provided.
We welcome recent graduates who have obtained a qualifying degree or certificate from an accredited institution within the last two years. This includes Associates, Bachelors, Masters, Professional, Doctorate, Vocational, or Technical degrees.
- A Veteran who was unable to apply to the Recent Graduates Program due to military service obligations will be granted a full two-year eligibility period upon release or discharge from active duty. However, eligibility cannot extend beyond six years from the completion of academic requirements. Documentation of military service is required.
Specialized Experience Requirements:
For the GS-09 level, candidates must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service.
Specialized experience includes:
- Conducting segments of audits;
- Preparing work papers utilizing automated auditing software;
- Collecting, analyzing, and summarizing evidence to substantiate audit conclusions;
- Identifying operational controls and recognizing weaknesses;
- Researching relevant laws, regulations, guidelines, and procedures.
Alternatively, candidates may substitute education for specialized experience, which includes two years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Master's degree or an equivalent graduate degree.
Documentation such as transcripts or a list of college courses must be provided to ensure proper credit.
For the GS-07 level:
One year of specialized experience at the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service is required.
Specialized experience includes:
- Assisting experienced auditors with audit segments;
- Preparing work papers using automated auditing tools;
- Researching laws, regulations, guidelines, and procedures.
Alternatively, candidates may substitute education for specialized experience, which includes one full year of graduate-level education in a related field or demonstrating Superior Academic Achievement based on a bachelor's degree.
To combine education and experience, the total percentage of experience at the required grade level and the percentage of completed education must equal at least 100 percent.
