Position Overview:
Join a dynamic team at Guyana Power & Light Inc. (GPL) as we seek qualified professionals for the role of Lead Audit Specialist within our Internal Audit Department.

Role Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will work under the guidance of the Internal Audit Supervisor (Technical) and will be tasked with evaluating internal control systems and processes across Company Operations, including Transmission & Distribution, Metering, and Generation. The primary goal is to identify control weaknesses and propose effective solutions.

Key Duties Include:
  1. Collaborating with the Internal Audit Supervisor to ensure GPL meets its operational objectives through a systematic evaluation of its T&D, Metering, and Generation Operations.
  2. Assisting in the development and execution of audit plans to regularly assess the effectiveness of controls within the company's operations.
  3. Conducting routine audits and verifications of records, documents, and systems to ensure compliance with established accounting standards and internal controls.
  4. Performing checks on three-phase metering systems and associated circuitry to guarantee accuracy and compliance with legal standards.
  5. Reviewing all maintenance and repairs of electrical motors, alternators, and related circuitry.
  6. Participating in the energization of high-voltage distribution circuits as required.
  7. Conducting field inspections to facilitate thorough investigations.
  8. Preparing detailed reports of findings and recommendations for each audit assignment to be submitted to the Audit Officer through the Internal Audit Supervisor.
  9. Maintaining confidentiality regarding all information related to investigations and operations.
  10. Encouraging the sharing of best practices throughout the organization.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
To be considered for this position, candidates must possess:
- Comprehensive knowledge of principles related to T&D systems, Metering Installation, and Generation Operations.
- Proficiency in computer applications.
- Strong independent thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- A high level of integrity and confidentiality.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to foster positive working relationships.

Educational Background:
Candidates should have one of the following qualifications:
- Six (6) subjects at CSEC level, including Mathematics and English, plus an Ordinary Technical Diploma in Electrical Engineering (GTI) with three (3) to four (4) years of relevant experience in Network/Generation Operations/Auditing.
- Technician's Certificate in Electrical Engineering (Part 11) with four (4) to six (6) years of relevant experience in Network/Generation Operations/Auditing.
- Six (6) subjects at CSEC level, including Mathematics and English, along with five (5) to seven (7) years of experience in Network/Generation Operations/Auditing.

Compensation:
Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
