Press Assistant Overview
The Press Assistant role is designed to provide support to the Press Operator in various tasks related to the printing process. This position requires a commitment to maintaining quality and efficiency in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Directly assist the press operator in preparing and executing printing jobs.
- Organize and prepare raw material rolls, ensuring accessibility for the operator.
- Load raw materials, perform splices, and ensure all splices meet quality standards.
- Support the operator during job changeovers and web breaks as necessary.
- Label finished products accurately with appropriate tags and identifiers.
- Keep track of roll changes and maintain accurate logs of production.
- Report any machine malfunctions or equipment issues to the supervisor and maintenance team.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and operational guidelines within the Finishing Department.
- Aim to develop skills to operate a press independently in the future.
- Collaborate with the department manager and Quality Assurance to address any quality concerns.
- Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action processes as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the pressroom, ensuring product separation.
- Complete all documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
- Be available for overtime work as required.
- Provide coverage for operators during their absences.
- Consult with the Press Hall supervisor regarding assigned tasks.
- Contribute to maximizing the efficiency of press hall operations.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and increased productivity.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED is mandatory.
- Training in Single-Minute Exchange of Die (SMED) is preferred.
- A minimum of one year of experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting is required.
Physical and Environmental Requirements
- Work in a manufacturing environment with potential exposure to hazardous conditions such as dust, high noise levels, and chemicals, following OSHA safety guidelines.
- Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs without assistance.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods throughout the shift.
- Frequent bending, stooping, squatting, grasping, climbing, and reaching is necessary.
