About the Role

CAMBA is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Outreach Worker to join our Cure Violence Program in Brooklyn. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in reducing gun violence and promoting community safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct street outreach and market the program to the community to recruit clients
  • Assist in organizing responses to shootings in the targeted catchment area within 72 hours
  • Prepare marketing materials and promote the program to the community
  • Attend and facilitate social/peer support events
  • Review client eligibility documentation and maintain client files
  • Conduct initial intake and periodic reassessments of clients and their families
  • Follow up with clients and referral organizations regarding client contact and progress
  • Work with clients to break through barriers and advocate for themselves
  • Recommend strategies to persuade clients to participate fully in the program
  • Act as client liaison/client advocate with outside organizations
  • Monitor clients' progress toward their goals
Requirements
  • High School Diploma and three years of applicable experience, or Associate's degree and two years of applicable experience, or Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • Strong knowledge of the Brownsville community and familiarity with the 73rd Police Precinct
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including mornings, evenings, and weekends as needed
  • Understanding of, sensitivity to, and commitment to working with families of youth who have experienced gun-related trauma
