Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Social Worker to join our Cure Violence Program in Brownsville, Brooklyn. As a key member of our team, you will work closely with at-risk youth, community residents, and local stakeholders to implement a public health strategy aimed at reducing and preventing gun violence.

Responsibilities
  • Provide individual and group counseling services to assist clients and their families in coping with the impact of gun violence and achieving healthy relationships, emotional stability, and personal development.
  • Counsel clients on issues related to gun violence, including mental and physical health/trauma-related issues.
  • Work closely with a broad coalition of local partners to promote a visible community-wide message that shooting is unacceptable behavior.
  • Collaborate with program staff to develop and implement program strategies and interventions.
Requirements
  • Licensed Master of Social Work (LMSW or LCSW) or Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and 2 years' experience working with urban youth required.
  • LCSW preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of the Brownsville community and familiarity with the 73rd Police Precinct's community challenges.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including mornings, evenings, and weekends as needed.
  • Understanding of, sensitivity, and commitment to working with families of youth who have experienced gun-related trauma.
