Job Title: School Outreach Worker

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced School Outreach Worker to join our Youth Enrichment Services team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing outreach strategies to engage school-aged youth in our programming and supportive services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement outreach strategies to engage school-aged youth in our programming and supportive services.
  • Build relationships with students, school administrators, and community stakeholders to promote our services and programs.
  • Provide a visible presence in schools and on common routes to public transportation to engage with youth and promote our services.
  • Diffuse conflicts and engage in conflict mediation and violence interruption activities as needed.
  • Coordinate with school administrators and local law enforcement to identify and address areas of concern.
  • Assist in organizing responses to conflicts and promoting positive youth development.
  • Prepare marketing materials and promote our services within the school community.
  • Attend and facilitate social/peer support events to engage with youth and promote our services.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) and one year of applicable experience, or
  • Associate's degree (A.S.) and two years of applicable experience, or
  • High School Diploma or HSE and three years of applicable experience
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Relevant experience in a mid-sized organization.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong knowledge of the Canarsie community.
