Outreach Worker, BIVO Cure Violence Program

CAMBA is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Outreach Worker to join our team in the Cure Violence Program. The successful candidate will work with at-risk youth, community residents, and local organizations to implement a public health strategy to reduce and prevent shootings and killings in the Brownsville community.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct street outreach to recruit clients and promote the program
- Assist in organizing responses to shootings that occur in the targeted catchment area
- Prepare marketing materials and promote the program to the community
- Attend and facilitate social/peer support events
- Review client eligibility and maintain client files
- Conduct initial intake and periodic reassessments of clients
- Follow up with clients and referral organizations
- Work with clients to break through barriers and advocate for themselves
- High school diploma and three years of applicable experience, or associate's degree and two years of applicable experience, or bachelor's degree in a related field
- Strong knowledge of the Brownsville community and familiarity with the 73rd Police Precinct
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including mornings, evenings, and weekends as needed
- Understanding of, sensitivity, and commitment to working with families of youth that have experienced gun-related trauma
- $50,000 annually
