Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Social Worker to join our Cure Violence Program in Brownsville, Brooklyn. The successful candidate will work with at-risk youth, community residents, and local partners to implement a public health strategy to reduce and prevent shootings and killings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individual and group counseling services to assist clients and their families in coping with the impact of gun violence and achieving healthy relationships, emotional stability, and personal development.
  • Counsel clients regarding issues related to gun violence, including mental and physical health/trauma-related issues.
  • Work closely with a broad coalition of local partners to promote a visible community-wide message that shooting is unacceptable behavior.
Requirements
  • Licensed Master of Social Work (LMSW or LCSW) or Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and 2 years' experience working with urban youth required.
  • LCSW preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of the Brownsville community and familiarity with the 73rd Police Precinct's community challenges.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including mornings, evenings, and weekends as needed.
  • Understanding of, sensitivity, and commitment to working with families of youth who have experienced gun-related trauma.

  • A competitive salary range of $75,000 - $90,000 annually.
