Job Title: Student Support Specialist

Job Summary:

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a highly skilled Student Support Specialist to join our team at Northern VA Community College. As a key member of the NOVA Workforce division, you will provide administrative support and serve as the enrollment specialist for our students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform registration tasks and provide guidance to students on the registration system.
  • Enter and maintain accurate data into the student information system.
  • Issue enrollment confirmation emails and letters.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve enrollment problems.
  • Provide quality customer service and identify customer needs to achieve satisfaction.
  • Handle customer complaints and provide appropriate resolutions and alternatives.
  • Assist with marketing classes and organize and maintain files and records.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Requirements:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with students, instructors, and staff.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects independently, at times under stress.
  • Demonstrated computer skill proficiency, including using Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to provide accurate information and courteous customer service.
  • Ability to interact effectively with internal and external customers.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in an office setting.
  • Experience working in a higher education setting.
  • Bilingual abilities are a plus.

Work Environment:

This is a part-time position with the Commonwealth of Virginia. The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced office environment and will be required to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
