The Accounting Manager role is pivotal in overseeing and coordinating all facets of sales and accounts receivable financial management for North America. This position entails the development, administration, and preservation of robust systems, controls, policies, and procedures that govern sales and accounts receivable accounting. The incumbent will also play a significant role in future system transitions and implementations, ensuring comprehensive controls are established.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Oversee the activities of personnel engaged in Sales Accounting and Accounts Receivable/Customer Accounting, focusing on:

  1. Management and tracking of payments related to customer programs for CBG and PCG.
  2. Conducting balance sheet reconciliations for rebates, customer commissions, and prebates for PSG, CBG, and PCG, managing over $1.7 billion in total assets/liabilities.
  3. Ensuring the accuracy of AR systems across North America, including CPR, AOM sales, Oracle Cloud, R12, and 11i.
  4. Executing balance sheet reconciliations for customer complaints, refunds, AR system accounts, and other customer-related accounts.
  5. Managing month-end closing activities, including journal entries.
  6. Overseeing accruals related to bad debt, revenue recognition, customer claims, and cash management.

Monthly Balance Sheet Reconciliation

  1. Directly manage and/or perform monthly reconciliations of Balance Sheet accounts, ensuring timely completion and resolution of discrepancies.
  2. Maintain the integrity of Balance Sheet accounts and reconciliations, conducting quality assurance and periodic meetings with management.

Employee Development and Training

  1. Recruit and onboard new team members, providing ongoing training and support.
  2. Supervise daily operations and month-end closing tasks to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  3. Encourage team growth by offering guidance, coaching, and cross-functional training.

Controls and Operational Accounting

  1. Establish and maintain effective controls for all sales and AR-related systems, collaborating with audit teams to implement necessary measures.
  2. Engage in the selection, design, and testing of new rebate and commission systems, ensuring proper documentation of controls.
  3. Identify and address significant accounting challenges, providing actionable recommendations.
  4. Monitor performance against SLAs and ensure KPIs are met or exceeded.

Accounting Automation and Process Enhancement

  1. Identify and implement process improvements through collaboration and design.
  2. Leverage automation tools to enhance efficiency and streamline tasks.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION:

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance.

EXPERIENCE:

Required:

  • Minimum of 5 years in Accounting or Finance.
  • Experience with process improvement and automation tools.
  • Proficient in internal controls and month-end closing processes.
  • Expertise in Balance Sheet reconciliation and analysis.

Preferred:

  • Supervisory experience.
  • Familiarity with sales accounting, AR accounting, and commission/rebate systems.
  • Experience with Oracle and related systems.

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

Required:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to engage effectively with various organizational levels.
  • Strong business acumen and understanding of organizational challenges.
  • Capability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Experience in process mapping and developing standard operating procedures.

Preferred:

  • Adaptability to technological advancements.
  • Experience in improving and streamlining processes.
  • Familiarity with reporting tools and sales/AR accounting systems.
