Position Summary

The Senior Financial Accountant will oversee all finance, accounting, and reporting functions. This role requires the ability to meet strict deadlines and manage various accounting tasks, including general ledger maintenance and financial reporting.

Qualifications

A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree; an MBA in Accounting, Business Management, or a related discipline is preferred.

  • Demonstrated leadership experience in a Healthcare or Clinical finance environment is essential; experience in Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC) is advantageous.
  • At least 3 years of experience in grants management is preferred.
  • Proficiency with financial and accounting software is required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities are essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise financial accounting operations to ensure precise recording and reporting of financial data.
  • Maintain internal controls and safeguards for revenue, expenses, and program budgets versus actual expenditures.
  • Regularly analyze financial information and present reports accurately and promptly; effectively communicate monthly and annual financial statements while keeping the CFO informed of the organization's financial status.
  • Coordinate accounting functions, reports, data, and programs.
  • Prepare financial analyses and comprehensive reports.
  • Develop revenue forecasts and manage expenditure projections.
  • Assist in budget preparation and monitoring, maintaining and reconciling balance sheet and general ledger accounts.
  • Support annual audit preparations and address audit findings, account discrepancies, and compliance issues.
  • Contribute to the enhancement of accounting systems, programs, and procedures.
  • Complete general ledger activities and month-end closing processes.
  • Participate in the annual budgeting and planning cycle.
  • Administer and review financial plans, comparing actual results to identify, explain, and rectify variances as necessary.
  • Assist the CFO in engaging with the board's audit and finance committees regarding financial operating models and trends.
  • Oversee financial, project/program, and grants accounting, ensuring expenditures align with grant and program budgets throughout the funding period.
  • Organize financial reporting materials for government, corporate, and foundation grants.
  • Engage in organizational cash flow forecasting.
  • Collaborate with the CFO to evaluate the financial effectiveness of program operations and establish finance and administrative systems to support these operations.
  • Direct the preparation of statistical reports for management and external agencies.
  • Provide daily oversight and guidance to the Finance Department staff to ensure efficiency and effectiveness while fostering professional development opportunities.
  • Attend management and departmental meetings to discuss financial matters.
  • Engage in professional development activities and maintain relevant professional affiliations.
