Job Overview

The Senior Crew Supervisor is responsible for overseeing team members, equipment, tools, and materials to ensure all tasks are completed in accordance with project specifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Consistently uphold and enforce safety regulations and protocols
  • Manage daily operations of crew members and equipment
  • Delegate specific duties to team members and monitor their performance
  • Plan and carry out assigned tasks in a safe and professional manner
  • Organize work assignments to maximize efficiency
  • Communicate with property owners regarding work presence; secure permissions for tree trimming or removal and discuss access and service interruptions
  • Ensure all crew members utilize personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhere to safety standards
  • Perform tree trimming and removal using various tools and equipment, ensuring safe handling and disposal of materials
  • Apply herbicides to stumps and brush to prevent regrowth
  • Load and unload vehicles with logs, stumps, and debris, and operate a powered chipper
  • Schedule breaks and meal times for crew members
  • Oversee site cleanup and ensure all tools and equipment are secured
  • Inspect completed work to ensure compliance with specifications and inform clients of job completion
  • Maintain accurate records of time, equipment, and materials utilized
  • Conduct daily inspections of vehicles and lead job briefings as required by regulations
  • Restock necessary supplies and perform routine maintenance on equipment or report any issues to the General Foreperson
  • Assess emergency situations and take appropriate actions to mitigate hazards
  • Assist with storm response efforts as needed

Supervisory Duties

The Senior Crew Supervisor does not have direct reports but directs team members in preparing the necessary equipment, tools, and materials for daily operations.


Experience Requirements
Previous experience in utility vegetation management, construction, logging, landscaping, mechanical, or military sectors is preferred.


Education Requirements
A high school diploma or equivalent education is preferred.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to meet and demonstrate qualifications for all crew positions
  • Capability to follow both verbal and written instructions
  • Proficient in delegating tasks and holding team members accountable
  • Understanding of diagrams and symbols related to electrical lines and equipment
  • Ability to adapt to field conditions and make independent decisions
  • Possession of a valid Driver's License and ability to operate a company vehicle safely
  • Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Ability to obtain and maintain first-aid and CPR certifications
  • Effective communication skills
  • Physical endurance to perform duties throughout an eight to ten-hour workday
  • Proficient in operating and maintaining all required tools and equipment
  • Willingness to travel for storm restoration work when necessary
