The primary duty of this role is to ensure ongoing safety, security, vigilance, and awareness to manage the facility and its residents in line with company policies and contractual obligations. This position is crucial for maintaining resident accountability.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (MAY INCLUDE OTHER TASKS AS ASSIGNED BY SUPERVISOR)

  • Facilitate the intake process for residents following established protocols and contractual guidelines. Conduct a thorough inventory of personal belongings upon their arrival.
  • Maintain accurate records of all activities, documenting the number of residents entering or exiting the facility in compliance with company and contractual standards.
  • Conduct regular facility counts at designated times and ensure logbooks reflect accurate resident counts as instructed.
  • Receive and relay critical information from the previous shift regarding events that occurred during their tenure.
  • Oversee the sign-in/sign-out process and manage all movement of residents and visitors.
  • Monitor surveillance systems to detect and report any unauthorized movements within the facility.
  • Perform equipment checks to ensure operational readiness for each shift, including radios, flashlights, and keys.
  • Ensure all reports, work orders, security documentation, and unusual incident reports are clear, concise, and meet facility and contractual standards.
  • Conduct regular patrols of the facility to observe and engage with residents, ensuring a secure environment.
  • Supervise resident work details to uphold facility cleanliness and compliance with company and contractual standards.
  • Conduct scheduled and unscheduled cleanliness inspections of the facility and resident quarters, ensuring personal belongings are kept in a clean and orderly fashion.
  • Oversee the distribution of medications and first aid supplies to residents.
  • Act as a liaison between residents and case managers to facilitate effective communication.
  • Accurately document any issues or violations of company policies and contractual agreements.
  • Assist case managers with searches of residents' vehicles when necessary.
  • Monitor the telephone system from control booths and maintain a photo ID log for all residents.
  • Inspect items brought into the facility by residents and visitors to prevent the introduction of contraband.
  • Conduct random and scheduled searches, as well as alcohol and drug tests on residents in accordance with established protocols.
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with all staff levels to foster teamwork.
  • Engage with residents professionally to promote their self-esteem and maintain positive relations.
  • Ensure confidentiality is upheld regarding sensitive information related to employees, vendors, residents, or external agencies.
  • Assist with meal service in the absence of food service staff.
  • Transport residents using company vehicles as needed.
  • Maintain an inventory of personal property for residents who are released unexpectedly.
  • Hold valid First Aid and CPR certifications (training provided).
  • Participate in all mandatory training and professional development sessions.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Operations Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS REQUIRED

Minimum one year of experience in a security or customer service role, preferably within a correctional setting.

Proven ability in written and verbal communication; First Aid and CPR certifications (training available); valid driver's license with a clean driving record preferred.

ABILITIES:

  • Learn and apply contractual requirements related to community corrections and accountability.
  • Work a rotating schedule, including overtime as necessary.
  • Establish authority and communicate effectively.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with staff and colleagues; identify and report issues promptly.
  • Administer First Aid and CPR as needed.
  • Drive company vehicles when required.
  • Adhere to policies and procedures set forth by the company and contracting agency.
  • Meet clearance requirements set by the contracting agency.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

A high school diploma or equivalent is required (Associate's Degree preferred).
