Position Overview

We are currently seeking candidates for the role of part-time Assistant Coach for our Softball program at the Ann Arbor, Michigan campus. This role is designed to mentor student-athletes, providing them with essential strategies and techniques to achieve success in their athletic, academic, and social endeavors. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, planning and executing practice sessions, game strategies, recruitment, budget management, and monitoring the academic progress of student-athletes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Organize, schedule, and lead practice sessions
  • Exhibit genuine concern for the academic, athletic, social, and spiritual growth of athletes
  • Provide instruction and education in the sport
  • Assist in recruiting athletes in collaboration with the Head Coach
  • Ensure compliance with NAIA Division II regulations
  • Adhere to Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) rules
  • Promote and embody the mission and values of Concordia University within the program
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Strong organizational and leadership capabilities
  • Effective communication skills, including public speaking
  • Awareness of current trends in sports and coaching
  • Familiarity with safety protocols and regulations related to the sport
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends, with potential overnight travel
  • Ability to represent a Christian and professional demeanor
  • Alignment with the mission and values of Concordia University Wisconsin/Ann Arbor and the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS)

Education & Experience Requirements

  • 1-3 years of coaching experience, preferably at the collegiate level, or relevant experience and training
  • A Bachelor's degree in a related field is required; extensive experience may be considered
  • A Master's degree is preferred

Compensation

This is a part-time, exempt (salary/stipend) position. Compensation will be based on qualifications, education, and experience. Tuition benefits are available for employees, though no additional benefits are associated with this role.
