Position Overview

We are seeking candidates for the role of part-time Assistant Coach for the Softball team. This position is designed to mentor student-athletes, providing them with the necessary strategies and techniques to achieve success in their athletic, academic, and social endeavors. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, planning and executing practice sessions, developing game strategies, recruiting new talent, managing budgets, and overseeing the academic progress of current athletes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Organize, schedule, and lead practice sessions
  • Show genuine concern for the academic, athletic, social, and spiritual growth of athletes
  • Provide instruction and guidance in the sport
  • Assist in recruiting athletes in collaboration with the Head Coach
  • Ensure compliance with NAIA Division II regulations
  • Adhere to the rules and guidelines set forth by the Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC)
  • Promote and embody the mission and values of Concordia University within the program
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Strong organizational and leadership capabilities
  • Effective communication skills, including public speaking
  • Awareness of current trends in sports and coaching
  • Familiarity with safety protocols and regulations related to the sport
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends, with potential overnight travel
  • Ability to represent a Christian and professional demeanor
  • Alignment with the mission and values of Concordia University Wisconsin/Ann Arbor and the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS)

Education & Experience Requirements

  • 1-3 years of coaching experience, preferably at the collegiate level, or relevant experience and training
  • A Bachelor's degree in a related field is required; extensive relevant experience may be considered
  • A Master's degree is preferred

Compensation & Benefits

This is a part-time, exempt position with a salary that will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Tuition benefits are available for employees, but no additional benefits are provided for this role.
