Position Overview:

The role involves overseeing the planning, processing, and delivery of metallurgically accurate products.

The candidate must be a U.S. Citizen.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Possesses extensive knowledge of materials used in aircraft structures and engines, particularly those produced through hot forming and forging techniques.
  • Develops procedures for the control and tracking of forged metal components.
  • Reviews sales proposals, purchase orders, planning documents, customer specifications, and final shipping documents for metallurgical and technical accuracy.
  • Conducts technical assessments of raw material procurement orders.
  • Engages in data analysis and experimental design related to the manufacturing of metallic aerospace components.
  • Evaluates new or updated specifications and prepares specification summaries for master files.
  • Ensures process control throughout all forging and heat treatment stages.
  • Submits and monitors the progress of drawings, manufacturing plans, and procedural documents.
  • Implements the most efficient processes and materials technology to enhance company profitability.
  • Analyzes chemistry and test results to assess their relevance for specific production jobs.
  • Provides technical support to clients and shop personnel.
  • Collects and interprets data to improve processes and minimize nonconformities.
  • Leads and participates in projects aimed at continuous improvement.
  • Assists Quality Control in auditing external vendors for heat treatment and product testing services.
  • Identifies process deviations and communicates findings to Quality for necessary submissions.
  • Conducts failure analysis to determine root causes and corrective measures.
  • Supervises forging processes and observes operations such as melting and heat treatment, as well as non-destructive and destructive testing.
  • Prepares technical reports and internal process specifications.
  • May supervise Process Controllers and laboratory functions, including training and directing work assignments.
Required Qualifications:
  • Previous leadership experience is preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret business publications, technical journals, and governmental regulations.
  • Proficient in writing reports, business correspondence, and procedural documentation.
  • Capable of effectively presenting information and addressing inquiries from various stakeholders.
  • Strong mathematical skills, including advanced concepts and statistical analysis.
  • Ability to apply logical and scientific reasoning to a variety of problems.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical Engineering or a related field.
  • 5-8 years of relevant experience in the forging industry or a closely related area.
  • Familiarity with ferrous and non-ferrous alloys, with specific experience in hot forming/forging of Titanium, Aluminum alloys, and various steel grades.
