Demonstrates extensive knowledge of aircraft structural and engine materials produced through hot forming and forging techniques.Develops procedures for the control and tracking of forged metal components.
Evaluates sales quotations, purchase orders, planning documents, customer specifications, and final shipping documents for metallurgical and technical accuracy.
Conducts technical reviews of raw material procurement orders.Performs data analysis and experimental design related to the manufacturing of metallic aerospace components.
Reviews and summarizes new or revised specifications for master specification files.
Ensures process control for all forging and heat treatment stages on job travelers.
Submits and monitors drawings, manufacturing plans, and procedures for forging and heat treatment.
Implements the most effective and economical processes, alongside appropriate materials technology, to enhance company profitability.
Assesses chemistry and test results of specific heats or conversions to determine their suitability for specific jobs and authorizes material for production.
Provides technical support to clients and shop personnel.Collects and analyzes data to improve processes and minimize nonconformities.
Participates in and leads initiatives aimed at continuous improvement.
Assists Quality Control in auditing external vendors providing heat treatment and product testing services.
Identifies process deviations and communicates findings to Quality for submissions.
Conducts failure analysis to determine causes and corrective measures.
Supervises forging processes and observes forging, melting, and heat-treating operations, as well as non-destructive and destructive testing.
Prepares technical reports and internal process specifications.
May supervise Process Controllers, laboratory functions, and occasionally planning/traveler writers. Responsibilities may include interviewing and training staff; planning, assigning, and directing work; addressing complaints and resolving issues.
Essential Skills:
Proven leadership experience in previous roles is preferred. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business publications, professional journals, technical guidelines, or governmental regulations.
Ability to compose reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals.Capable of effectively presenting information and responding to inquiries from groups of managers, clients, and plant personnel.
Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations.
Ability to utilize mathematical operations for tasks such as frequency distribution, test reliability and validity determination, variance analysis, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
Ability to apply logical or scientific principles to a variety of intellectual and practical challenges.Ability to interpret nonverbal symbols (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc.) in complex scenarios.
Ability to manage a range of abstract and concrete variables.
Strong interpersonal skills complemented by excellent written and verbal communication abilities. Proficient in drafting clear, concise technical reports.
Ability to design and execute comprehensive experiments.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to follow detailed written or oral instructions. Capable of addressing problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, etc.). Experience & Education: Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Metallurgical Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution. 5-8 years of relevant experience and/or training in the forging industry or a closely related area. Knowledge of ferrous and non-ferrous alloys.
Experience with hot forming/forging of Titanium and its alloys; Aluminum alloys; Steels such as 300M, 4340, 15-5/13-8/17-4 PH; Refractory metals and alloys like Inco 625/718, Waspalloy, etc. is advantageous.

For informational purposes, the salary range for this position is $71,000 to $110,000 USD annually, based on various factors.
This role is eligible for participation in the Company's Quarterly Cash Bonus Plan, which is paid out at a quarterly bonus factor of 2X the Company's bonus multiple, contingent on the Company's performance in the relevant quarter. Employees receive 120 hours of paid time off annually, along with 10 paid holidays. Employees and their families can participate in the company's medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance plans. Employees are also eligible to enroll in the Company's 401(k) plan.
This position requires access to information or production processes subject to national security controls under U.S. export control laws and regulations (including, but not limited to, the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR)).
