Position Overview:

The individual will be accountable for the strategic planning, processing, and delivery of metallurgically sound products.

Key Responsibilities:

All tasks must be performed with integrity, professionalism, and in compliance with applicable company standards. Should there be any uncertainty regarding company policies, employees are expected to seek clarification from supervisors or authorized representatives.
  • Possesses extensive knowledge of materials used in aircraft structures and engines produced through hot forming and forging techniques.
  • Develops procedures for the control and tracking of forged metal components.
  • Evaluates sales quotations, purchase orders, planning documents, customer specifications, and final shipping paperwork for metallurgical and technical accuracy.
  • Conducts technical assessments of raw material procurement orders.
  • Engages in analysis and experimental design related to the manufacturing of metallic aerospace components.
  • Reviews and updates specifications, issuing summaries for master specification files.
  • Ensures process control throughout all forging and heat treatment stages on job documentation.
  • Submits and monitors drawings, manufacturing plans, and procedural documents for forging and heat treatment.
  • Implements the most efficient processes and appropriate materials technology to enhance company profitability.
  • Assesses chemistry and test results to determine material suitability for specific projects.
  • Offers technical support to clients and production staff.
  • Collects and analyzes data to improve processes and minimize nonconformities.
  • Leads and participates in initiatives aimed at continuous improvement.
  • Assists Quality Control in evaluating external vendors providing heat treatment and product testing services.
  • Identifies process deviations and collaborates with Quality for necessary submissions.
  • Conducts failure analysis to identify root causes and corrective measures.
  • Supervises forging processes and oversees melting, heat-treating operations, as well as non-destructive and destructive testing.
  • Composes technical reports and internal process specifications.
  • May supervise Process Controllers and laboratory functions, including training and mentoring staff, planning, and resolving issues.
Required Qualifications:
  • Proven leadership experience in previous roles is preferred.
  • Ability to interpret and analyze business publications, technical documents, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Proficient in drafting reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals.
  • Skilled in presenting information and addressing inquiries from management, clients, and plant personnel.
  • Competent in applying advanced mathematical concepts and operations.
  • Adept at utilizing logical or scientific reasoning to tackle a variety of intellectual and practical challenges.
  • Strong interpersonal abilities with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Capable of preparing clear and concise technical documentation.
  • Experience in designing and executing comprehensive experiments.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, etc.).
Experience & Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • 5-8 years of relevant experience in the forging industry or a closely related area.
  • Familiarity with ferrous and non-ferrous alloys, with additional experience in hot forming/forging of Titanium and its alloys, Aluminum alloys, and various steels being advantageous.
