Job Summary

As a key member of the Marriott International Inc. team, the Strategic Business Leader will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of property operations, including managing general property performance, profitability, revenue generation, and sustaining sales and marketing strategy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Managing Property Operations and Department Budgets
    • Develop and implement service programs to ensure exceptional guest experiences.
    • Provide timely feedback to management and hourly employees on service and operational standards.
    • Manage labor budgets and ensure effective management of labor costs.
    • Create clear lines of responsibility for management team members.
    • Prepare for quality assurance audits and reviews.
    • Monitor and respond to guest satisfaction scores and comments.
    • Act as a project manager for capital improvements and renovations.
    • Ensure public spaces, grounds, and work areas meet sanitation and cleanliness standards.
    • Implement major brand standards, including HSIA and Market initiatives.
    • Delegate responsibilities to appropriate team members.
  • Managing and Sustaining Sales and Marketing Strategy
    • Work with the Regional Sales office to implement sales strategy and set goals.
    • Collaborate with Market Sales to establish property sales strategy and action plans.
    • Identify and champion creative marketing solutions that fit the brand and property needs.
    • Participate in property sales reviews and develop innovative means for capturing new revenue streams.
    • Build relationships with key customers and decision-makers.
    • Ensure direct sales staff utilize e-tools and sales strategies effectively.
    • Monitor sales strategy with RSO to ensure ongoing effectiveness and compliance.
  • Managing Profitability
    • Manage on-property controllable costs, including rooms, housekeeping, events, and food and beverage operations.
    • Measure, analyze, and communicate property performance using financial and non-financial data.
    • Update and communicate profit forecasts to employees.
    • Initiate actions to support property revenue and profitability goals.
    • Understand how food and beverage product variability affects profitability.
    • Review and sign off on invoices.
    • Monitor and resolve balance issues.
    • Consolidate reports for period-end review.
    • Review property performance with Regional Director.
    • Ensure compliance with Avendra.
  • Maintaining Revenue Management Goals
    • Manage the relationship with the revenue management office.
    • Review and work with revenue management reports.
    • Balance inventory to ensure same-day sellouts.
  • Managing Relationships with Property Stakeholders
    • Keep brand leadership team, owners, and above property stakeholders updated on property performance.
    • Prepare and present reports using financial and performance data.
    • Conduct property critiques and annual business reviews.
    • Participate in ad hoc owner conference calls and respond to owner requests.
    • Respond to off-property requests for sales information.
  • Managing and Conducting Human Resource Activities
    • Lead employees through property changes and help them transition into new roles.
    • Understand performance expectations for all positions within the property.
    • Conduct day-to-day Human Resource transactions to support property needs.
    • Complete management training and cascade training to employees.
    • Facilitate cross-training to support employee professional growth and operational excellence.
    • Monitor local hiring and compensation trends.
    • Conduct performance review process for employees.
    • Support recruitment efforts and actively recruit employees with basic food and beverage skill sets.
Benefits and Compensation

Marriott International Inc. offers a competitive salary range of $89,000 to $110,000 annually, as well as a comprehensive benefits package, including a bonus program, health care benefits, 401(k) plan, employee stock purchase plan, paid time off, life insurance, group disability insurance, travel discounts, adoption assistance, paid parental leave, health savings account, flexible spending accounts, tuition assistance, pre-tax commuter benefits, and other life and work wellness benefits.
