Key Responsibilities:
  • Engage with external sources to solicit residential mortgage applications and generate high-quality loans.
  • Establish and nurture relationships with real estate agents, builders, financial advisors, bank branches, previous clients, and other unconventional sources.
  • Communicate with clients to assess their needs and deliver exceptional customer service; inform potential and current clients about Wells Fargo Home Mortgage offerings; evaluate and propose mortgage loan products tailored to client requirements.
  • Provide recommendations for loan production and apply independent judgment while gaining insight into the functional area, policies, procedures, compliance mandates, and loan generation.
  • Uphold a high standard of client satisfaction and quality by ensuring timely and proactive communication with customers.
  • Comply with policies, underwriting standards, compliance regulations, and loan processes. Collaborate with fulfillment partners to address client needs throughout the origination process.
  • Continuously pursue training opportunities provided by Wells Fargo to enhance knowledge of company products, policies, procedures, and underwriting standards.
  • Stay updated on mortgage industry trends and developments in the assigned market, while fostering and maintaining a strong presence for Wells Fargo Home Mortgage in the marketplace.
  • This SAFE position involves customer interaction and responsibilities that may include offering or negotiating terms and/or processing applications for secured transactions. Therefore, compliance with the S.A.F.E. Mortgage Licensing Act of 2008 and related regulations is mandatory. Ongoing employment is contingent upon meeting all such requirements, including satisfactory background investigation results. Individuals in a SAFE role must also fulfill the Loan Originator requirements under Regulation Z (LO) as outlined in the job expectations below.
Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Mortgage Retail Sales, or equivalent demonstrated through a combination of work experience, training, military service, or education.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience in retail residential mortgage, with a focus on purchase fundings referred primarily from established local or external sources over the past year.
  • Experience in educating clients about various mortgage programs.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Background in the mortgage industry.
  • Understanding of sales prospecting and referral generation.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining professional relationships.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English.
  • Customer service experience.
Job Expectations:
  • This position requires SAFE registration upon employment. Wells Fargo will initiate the SAFE registration process immediately after your start date. The Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) website provides the MU4R questions and registration necessary for this role. Individuals in Loan Originator (LO) positions must meet the qualification requirements set by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and comply with related Wells Fargo policies. These qualifications include meeting financial responsibility, character, general financial fitness, and criminal background standards. A current credit report will be utilized to assess financial responsibility and credit fitness, although a credit score will not be part of the evaluation. Successful candidates must also meet ongoing regulatory requirements, including additional screening if necessary.
  • Reliable transportation is required.
  • Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and/or holidays as needed or scheduled.
