About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Technician 3 to join our Maritime Operations team in Newport News, VA. This role will support a wide variety of functional areas at Newport News Shipyard, including the Nuclear Propulsion Division.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support to engineers on various technical tasks, including gathering, maintaining, and formatting technical data.
  • Produce engineering documentation, reports, and drawings, including flow charts, block diagrams, and schematics.
  • Perform detailed mathematical calculations using established formulas and preliminary analyses of data.
  • Use personal computers to perform analyses and develop documentation/reports.
  • Conduct tests and record data to assist with engineering evaluation or analysis.
Requirements
  • Candidate must have either an Associate's Degree or other two-year technical degree in a related discipline and three years' experience, or a High School Diploma or equivalent and five years' related experience.
  • Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
  • Candidate must be a U.S. citizen.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Actively pursuing an ABET-accredited bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline.
  • Prior nuclear operations or work control experience.
  • Prior Navy nuclear propulsion experience, DOE, or commercial nuclear power experience.
  • Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate.
  • Four years of related manufacturing, shipbuilding, or trades experience.
